If you need to explain that a behavior is “technically legal,” then we can be rest assured that it’s wrong — even if it’s not a crime, per se. That’s the devil talking, brother.

I appreciate that.

> "Steve Witkoff, the real-estate mogul serving as Trump’s Middle East diplomatic envoy"

Witkoff also negotiated the release of Russian money launder / BTC-e crypto bro Alexander Vinnik in the Marc Fogel prisoner exchange.

BTC-e was used by Putin to fund the early incursions into Ukraine back around 2016.

I always had trump figured out but it still astounds me daily how fucking evil he is. I can’t imagine living life the way he does it would be intolerable.

Grifter magnetized to another grifter. This shit is really getting tiring. We fight on.

I have rarely seen a more biased article. But you shot yourself in the foot with this total contradiction in less than 2 sentences: "this deal might be considered essentially legal. There is simply no penalty or sanction — not even a hint of judicial procedure — when Trump breaks the law anymore."

You're admitting the transaction's legality, which makes sense, since it was done in the open, and in the next breath implying the President is breaking the law.

If I rob you in broad daylight and everyone sees it, it's still a crime.

Yes, but most crimes are committed in the dark, especially by politicians. The courts are continually agreeing with the legality of President Trump’s actions. You are completely unjustified in your scurrilous accusations of the most transparent president in our history.

"no penalty" is not the same as "no crime"

Step onto the street where there is no crosswalk. Technically speaking, if I run you over it isn’t my fault, even if I saw you beforehand, but didn’t admit to it

How can it be simple? I suppose there are rules saying you can't buy $75m of stocks or products from a politician's business, right?

"bribery, the act of promising, giving, receiving, or agreeing to receive money or some other item of value with the corrupt aim of influencing a public official in the discharge of his official duties"

I guess the intention is key, not the instrument

didnt Vitalik Buterin literally predict this in an X post?

⚯ Michel de Cryptadamus ⚯'s avatar

not quite. this is far more nakedly obviously quid pro quo than what vitalik was worried about, which was that a bad actor seeking to influence policy could manipulate memecoin markets to indirectly transfer wealth to their favoured politicians. of course that would never actually happen...
